Mission Statement
Our mission is to assist and foster small existing and start-up minority and women-owned businesses and other small, disadvantaged entrepreneurs in southwestern Pennsylvania in acquiring key information necessary to build a sustainable firm.
Collaboration
The DBRC was created from a collaboration between the MWDBE Governmental Committee and Riverside Center for Innovation (RCI). The MWDBE Governmental Committee is comprised of a group of 20 local, state, and federal agency representatives responsible for procurement and equal opportunity for minority and women business owners in southwestern PA. RCI is a non-profit organization that fosters the growth and development of entrepreneurial enterprises in southwestern Pennsylvania.
So what does MWDBE stand for anyway?
MWDBE is an easy way for diversity folks to link M (Minority) W (Women) and D (Disadvantaged) BE (Business Enterprises) because their business needs are different from non-MWDBEs. A DBE could be a business owned by a service-disabled veteran, someone with a disability, or someone who can show they are at a disadvantage due to social or economic conditions.
